hi I made my first batch about two weeks ago and the directions said to put in the fridge for about 24hrs if using a silicone mold take out and let sit for 4-6 weeks. well my soap turned from off white to brown. Its still curing but im not sure if its good..plus i over traced it so i had to scoop out and stuff it into the molds

do I have anything major to worry about?

Did you add any fragrance oils to your soap? That's probably why it's turned brown.

Have you sliced your soap yet?

Vanilla will turn brown in soap.

Vanilla - the quickest way to turn soap brown. Such an awesome smell, such a frustrating colour change.

No need to slice if they are in individual molds.

It will still be the original colour on the inside. It turns brown as it airs - so any parts exposed to air will turn brown. When you gut it, it will have a cool 'shell' like appearance with the inside being the soap colour, and the outer layer being brown. Then, the cut surface will go brown over time as well...

Some vanilla soaps start out yellow or tan on the inside. As they cure, they will turn all brown.

I LOVE Vanilla. I use a Vanilla Colour Stabiliser with anything that has a small percentage of vanillin, that helps soaps stay lighter for longer, but doesn't guarantee against long term discolouration or anything with a high amount of vanillin content. Some scents I just have to embrace the discolouration and work my colours to match.

I prefer not to gel, so my soaps go into the fridge or the freezer. Sounds like you will be fine.

I'm a fridge / freezer soaper too as I use milk in all my soaps. :) No issue with that, just takes a couple of extra days to unmold. Which is only a problem when you're me and have the patience of a ticked off bull. That's how I ended up with a smooshed loaf as I was, um, shaking it out of it's mold and it dropped. :o
