Teach Soap

If you have the dimensions of the mold, try length X width X height and multiply that by 0.4. That should give you an idea how much your mold will hold.

bluewingmich, I checked out your recipe this morning (now that I am awake) and here is how it should come out in soap calc. You can see what the percentages are that I came up with for you. I did a 7% super fat, too.
In my opinion: I'd make a much smaller batch to ensure the recipe turns out the way you'd like. Then my other thought is that I'd get rid of the SAO, lower the avocado to 5% and add some lard to it at 17%. Let us know how it comes out....pictures are appreciated.

Hi it's me again....
My mold that I need a 12 pound recipe for is 18" Long by 13" Wide and 3" deep
And I have one that's 12" Long 7" Wide and 3" deep....(I use this one all the time.)
It gives me 12 .....2" Bars

Now are you telling me I need to replace my SAO ???? "sweet almond oil " with lard and use 17% Lard and use only 5% AVocado oil?????
Where did you get this soap calc. that you used? I like it.

Hi Lisa....I need all the help I can get from everyone....because I'm new at this and I love to make soap.....so I'm thanking you and everyone that's helping me!
I do have some good news!!!!!
I made soap today in my 13 x 18 soap mold

My recipe I used:

Avo. 10.6 oz
castor 8.4 oz
Palm Kernal 42.4 oz
Coconut 32 oz
Olive oil 12.8 oz
Lye 470 g
Water 42 oz
2 & 1/2 t. ultra violet ox
2 T. Lavender Es

It think it turned out great....
If anyone thinks I need to change anything in the recipe .....please let me know.
I will send pictures soon.
