Teach Soap

I always try one in the shower within 1-3 days of cutting, I am impatient when it comes to soap testing and, I still have all my skin! If it is not to my liking I always give them a chance, but if they still haven't improved to my liking after 6-8 weeks then its off to the grater with them and I add them to a tried and true batch.
The longer you leave them the more liquid will evaporate and the harder and longer lasting they will be.

You can't judge a soap after 1-3 days though. Curing is not just for water evaporation and hardening - it also makes the soap milder and overall a better quality product.

I use many different recipes and of course you can judge soon after it is cut if it has luscious lather or none (and castile does not come into it, I know how castile works). I have been making soap a long long time. You may look for something else in your soap besides lather. I'm always curious if anyone has ever done a scientific experiment that soap's 'quality' whatever that may be, improves from day 1 to day 365?

Since the soap I make is either heavy on olive oil, or downright ONLY olive oil, I tend to wait a bare minimum of 8 weeks before I consider it safe to use. However, it's actually safe after 3 weeks; I just don't like to get it wet one time and suddenly half the bar is gone because it's so soft.
