The crock pot method is Hot Process, where you actually "cook" the soap to neutralize it.

The oven method we were referring to is used to force the gel stage after making soap with the Cold Process. (CPOP=Cold Process Oven Process) That's where you set your oven to its lowest setting (around 170) and then put your poured soap in. This takes the place of insulating your mold. It's not a good idea to do this when you've added milk, honey or other sugar to your soap. Also some FOs/EOs can cause the soap to overheat using this method.
