I know it gets harder and better with a longer cure, but is it safe to use sooner? Even just for hands. I searched and couldn't find.

Thanks!

I would wait at least 4 weeks. I find soap less then 4 weeks drying.

That explains that! I was using some scraps from when I cut last week. Thanks!

I find anything shorter than 4 weeks for me doesn't lather as well, doesn't feel as nice and leaves an oily film on my skin.

Technically I guess if they taste lilke soap, they are safe to use within days of making them. I wouldn't use them. I mark my recipe with the date it is made and it goes in the box with the batch of soap. If a month or more has not passed -- it doesn't get used.

Hmmmm....guess I am in the minority here. I keep a sliver of each cut batch by my kitchen sink and use it a few times before it is fully cured.

It's my first batch! :)

Honestly we were using the slivers that peeled off from the cutting but I was wondering about using a piece for the kitchen sink. I won't be as anxious when I get some more batches under my belt - promise! 8)

Let me clarify -- my just finished ones do get a try with a scrap, I just don't use any bars until they've cured a month or more. If I use them before then, they don't last very long.
