Hello, first post from a newbie.

I'm wondering what's the best way to add honey when making CP soap. I've heard put it in with the lye water, add it at trace, add it with the oils. Which way is better or does it really matter?

I dilute the honey with just a little bit of water, then add it as soon as I mix the oils and lye water.

Welcome! I do the same thing as soapbuddy - I hold back a little bit of the distilled water from my liquid amount to dissolve the honey in.

I warm the water very briefly in the microwave, stir the honey into the warmed water, and then add the honey/water mixture to my cooled oils before adding the lye solution. I give it a quick buzz with the stickblender before adding the lye, too, to thoroughly mix in the honey. Then soap as usual! Someone else may have a different method, but this is the way that I like to do it. :)

It's definitely easier to dissolve it in water first. I've added it to my oils before, but it didn't mix as easily.

Mixing it with water makes sense. In YouTube videos the soapers I saw either poured it at trace or added to their lye water. One soaper pointed out the honey spots in her finished soap. The soap looked quite nice though.

I've tried all of the above, and they all work. Most often, I add it to the oils, then add the lye water, and stick blend. I'm too worried about forgetting it to leave it longer than that.

I just warm the honey in the microwave (no water added) and then stick blend it in right after blending the lye solution into the oils.

Just made some soap. Dissolved the honey with some of my liquid and then added it to my oils. Worked like a charm. No honey spots though it does give me an idea. Maybe I'll take some of the soap batter, put the honey straight in it, blend it to trace and then add it to rest. Maybe that'll make speckled streaks in my finished soap.
