Is there anything anyone does with the innards of a pumpkin after removing the seeds? I'm sure it is not good for food but could I cook it in water, strain it and use that water for soap? How about soaking the pumpkin in olive oil, straining that and using for the oil in soap? I'm thinking that might waste a lot of oil that would come out with the straining. Would the pumpkin add some pretty color or turn brown? Would there be some good results that would survive in cold process? Could I cook it and puree it and use that in the soap in place of some of the water? I've read that people use pumpkin in soap but am not sure how. I just wanted to find a use for all this pumpkin innards instead of throwing it away as I used to!!
Blessings,
Sherri

Cook it, puree it and add it as a part of your water portion. I don't know about discoloration as I've used spice FO's which discolored by themselves.

Yes, do what Irena said and you can either freeze it and use it as all your water or add some to your cooled lye solution. It will give some color to your soap depending on how much you use.

I make pumpkin soap from canned pumpkin, and its a lovely dark orange.
ETA not sure what the bizarre autocorrect issue was. In any case, I HP, too, and it goes from orange to dark orange, depending on... I suppose the variation in pumpkin. I use about 2/3pumpkin, frozen, and 1/3 water.

I have recently made 2 batches of pumpkin soap to see what the colour would be like. I added the caustic soda to the cold mashed pumpkin, using it as my liquid amount, very slowly so it didn't heat up and then carried on as usual. With the second batch I used less water and then added the mashed pumpkin at trace to make up the liquid amount. Both ways have ended up a very nice light orange, but the one added at trace is going to take longer than normal to dry.

I am going to make pumpkin soap today!! Was thinking of just substituting 3oz of the water for pumpkin but could use all pumpkin in place of all water as I see some do. Should the pumpkin puree be frozen before adding the lye to it if I were to use all pumpkin? Most of my pumpkin is frozen in 3oz quantities. Will this have a tendency to overheat?

Wish me luck!

Hello Sherri
If I have frozen anything these days I prefer to let it get to mush stage then add the caustic, not as slow as the room temp method, a teaspoon at a time, but perhaps in tablespoon lots. And the oils I added it to were also only just warm.

PS...good luck :D just keep it no hotter than warm!
