My previous beer soap was hundred percent beef tallow, beer, tea tree and lye ,water. I want to add a bit of coconut and castor now that I think it will give a better lather but scared to tell the family and friends cause they keep asking when I'm gonna make it again. I want to use the pumpkin lager fragrance too. Maybe I will have to make original and new?? Family can be real critics.

Don't be scared. I would add about 5% castor and deduct that from your tallow. Don't forget to recalculate your recipe. Good luck!

Thankyou I did change the recipe a bit. But I do have enough tallow to make the old one if needed (the backup plan). Used 2lb tallow, 1lb lard, two oz. castor oil. We'll see how it flies. I used 7percent on the calc.

Inasmuch as I am allergic to pork, I won't be using lard in anything since lard is pork fat! But I was curious if your beer soap used beer and if it smells like beer does someone washing with it end up smelling like beer?

I have made several batches of beer soap and no they dont smell like beer. :D

One is made with the Pumpkin Lager and it does discolor over time. I made mine two tone so it looked like the foam on the top of a beer, and the darker bottom half started out a pretty shade of beer and now is the color of milk chocolate. The top is a bit darker (no longer the color of foam) but still lighter than the bottom half thankfully.

Ya no beer smell. Soap is cut now. I expect it to turn darker. Right now a pumpkin color. I'm a bit amazed that the FO is not stronger but maybe it will develop with aging. I hope. I've heard such good reviews for the Bramble Berry Pumpkin Lager FO.

Ok this should be resized , lol. You may see small bits of beer in the soap. This is because I used local craft beer. Also I'm sure it will darken more.

That is the Bramble Berry Bubbles slab mold. I also have some that were in loaf mold. Hubby bought me a miter box for a cutter. So at least now i can cut straight. lol
Thankyou Genny! I really like my photos outside but must practice with a white box for shop. Also it's gonna get a little frosty outside soon.

when it was first taken out of the mold..much darker now like an Ale. I used my husbands expensive IPA for this one :D I also fragranced at .7 oz ppo

And my nutmeg beer soap, unscented, no color added...I think I used Miller Genuine Draft for this one

Those are great beer soaps. I love the ones in the cups too. Did you put nutmeg on the top of your nutmeg soap? How much? I'm scared to play with cinn and nutmeg too much. I'm afraid someone would get burned or something, they are so strong.

I put it on the top and just patted it into the soap batter, the batter was at a light trace so some of it dropped further down, which I liked. I think most of it will come off with the first couple of uses.
