Teach Soap

I am wondering how long a soap may take to overheat. I made a batch with a bit of sugar in it and due to my fear of it overheating I put it in the freezer. How long should I keep it in the freezer? 4 hours? 12, 24, 48??? Should it be covered or uncovered while in the freezer? I'm sure that I should wait at least 48 hours to cut it - please don't tell me much longer!!! If I take it out after 6 hours and put it on the counter, is the danger of overheating past or may it overheat on my counter tonight while I'm sleeping! I will cry if I wake up to failed soap! Is there a danger of ruining a batch by keeping it in the freezer too long? Will the freezer stop the proper chemical reactions taking place?

I am worrying over this like it's my sick baby!

I leave mine in the freezer overnight if I'm concerned about it overheating, and I leave it uncovered. I wouldn't take it out sooner or you will risk getting a partial gel.

It will still become soap if you put it in the freezer, but I do find the soap is softer if I don't gel it. I usually take mine out of the freezer in the morning and unmold it, and then check if it's ready to cut later that afternoon or evening....good luck

Mine goes into the freezer up to overnight with just a piece of wax paper over the top. Be aware that if the soap doesn't gel, it might zap, up to three days later. After that it should be fine.
