I am finding it hard to unload all my extra cp soaps on friends and family. I always get the same reaction " Thanks but I prefer body wash " they always take it but I cant seem to get bodywash off their brains haha. So with that being said I ordered the BB liquid soap guru kit and figured I'd give it a go for xmas gifts and so forth. My problem is I am finding it is alot harder to find liquid soap recipies. Can you use a cp recipie to make liquid soap by just changing the sodium for pottasium hydroxide? I also noticed in the few recipies that came with my kit that the ones that were not Castile contain higher amounts of CO than any other oil. I know in CP that high CO can be drying. Is it different in liquid soap? Also what is the best way to store extra soap paste and how long can it be stored for? Haha I keep thinking of questions after the fact. Do you also superfat the same way as cp soap?

I noticed the same thing about the coconut oil being used in large percentages. Yes, it can still be drying in liquid soap. The higher your SF in liquid soap the cloudier your soap may be. Higher SF can also make the shelf life shorter.
My last batch of liquid soap I liked best so far. I used 7 oz. olive, 5 oz. coconut and 4 oz. castor with a 2% SF. The soap was cloudy at first, but cleared up after sitting for a few days. If I were going to use it as a body wash instead of a hand soap, I'd probably increase the SF to 5%. I put my left over paste in a zip bag in the fridge.

You may find yourself still not being able to convert them, because a 'body wash' commercial product will be made of synthetics and will give a different experience.

For liquid soap you will need less superfat. Summer Bee Meadow has a liquid soap calculator. Go take a look.

I like olive oil based liquid soaps, with a little (like 5% or so) coconut and castor for extra bubbles. I've also tried sunflower oil as my majority oil, and that worked well, too. I superfat around 2%. Unsaponified oils will go bad in liquid soap, and can make it cloudy, so it depends on your aesthetic sense, too.

Get a good book on liquid soap making--it will save you a lot of failed experiments. But keep in mind that they all like majority coconut recipes, because that gives a "clear" soap--but one that I think is too drying.

Catherine Failor's book seems to be the standard. I didn't think it was well organized, but the information is all there. She's obsessed with clarity, and relies on coconut oils as the majority oil for nearly every recipe. Even with those caveats, I learned from it.

I haven't seen any other books exclusively about liquid soaps, though several at least have a chapter, like The Everything Soap Book.
