If a customer has a medical question, steer them into doing their own online search or have them ask their own doctor. You can, however list an ingredient like self heal, but I would also list the INCI or the Latin name.

Ooh, I hate when people mention natural sunscreen properties. That's a horrible skin cancer lawsuit waiting to happen.

Listing Vitamin E is a no-no as well, since the word vitamin implies drug function. That one I learned about recently & had to redo my labels.

Really? So if Vitamin E is an actual ingredient... how do we list it?

That's annoying. One of the reasons people have told me they like my soaps is that I list "english" ingredients and not these unpronouncable long names they have no idea what they are.

I normally list both common names and their latin counterparts or INCI (in parantheses).

Yeah I noticed a lot do that - although I see it more commonly with the latin name and the common name in brackets. Makes the ingredients list super long though! :shock:

Huh, I never heard/knew about not being able to list "Vitamin E" -makes sense. I've seen that on a LOT of label/descriptions, bummer

This is a little off topic but not really. What about the people that quote their customers and in the statements are clearly saying that their product practically cured their eczema or other skin ailments? What are the guidelines in that aspect? I actually saw a testimonial on a site that the soap cured her boils!
