First time Cold Processor who failed miserably :(

Hi everyone, i am new to cold process soap. i've done a fair bit of research to know how to make cold process soap and have run my recipes through soapcalc..

I got everything prepared last night and my lye water went green

i have no idea why, anyone know where i might have gone wrong??

I'm considering just sticking to melt and pour as it's less complicated

Hmmm, any chance you were working with something that had copper in it? Was it like a blue green?

What did you mix your lye water in? What was your recipe? What temps? What type of water did you use?

It was a sort of dark green colour

the recipe was 16oz coconut oil
5oz distilled water
2.01 oz lye

i think maybe more research is needed

What did you mix the lye in? Was the lye pure? Where did you get it from? What brand was it?

I mixed the lye in distilled water. the lye was from eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220721698743? ... 1439.l2649

What type of a container did you use the mix the lye and water in?

Just a regular cooking pot which i think is aluminum but i can't remember as I've had them for years

Your soap is NOT usable if you use a aluminum pot. Get yourself a stainless one, trash this batch as it's not safe to use and start over.
