Hello fellow soapers!

I have fallen in love with texurizing the tops of my soap! I think I had beginners luck a few months ago...maybe it was becasue the weather was colder in GA and now it is still quite warm. My most recent batches I had a lovely texture on top but my soaps are getting too hot I my textured peaks and valleys are 'melting' flat.

I usually place my wooden log mold with silicone liner in a cold oven. One batch I covered the top and my second batch I left uncovered but still my texture 'melted' back into the soap. I dont know if I should leave it on the counter, no insulation or pop it in the fridge....

Another fridge vote. It's hot here in GA--that cooler weather a few weeks ago was a real tease. I'm in Decatur. Where in GA are you?

Ok, the fridge it is lol!!

However, now I have another question...as I tried the fridge method last year when I was experimenting with milk soaps and ended up with partial gel....yes gel while in the fridge (I thought the fridge was supposed to prevent gel!) and this is a look I am not crazy about. Is there a trick to this method that I am unaware of? Maybe insulate the corners only so gel reaches the entire loaf while in the fridge?

Yes, some soaps can get a partial gel; even in the freezer.
