Teach Soap

Tried using a frag called Rosewood in a skin cream. Disastrous. Had to throw away nearly 3Kg of product. Testing it, the cream caused a skin reaction: stinging and redness, at only 0.5% fragrance.
Think I will start doing R.I.T. on all the fragrances, on myself.

I would contact your vendor and ask for a safety sheet. You can also look at IFRA guidelines if you know any of the constituents of the FO.

R.I.T. = Repeated Insult Test. Basically, you place the substance on a small swab and tape it on to the test subject - in this case me - and observe what happens.
Just got off the phone with the rep, and it seems that this fragrance I have, was actually developed for a large company's skin care product...

Yes, I just got the spec sheets on it and it is recommended for use at 0.3%. I used it at 0.5% - but frankly, anything that causes a reaction at 0.5% I wouldn't want to use even at 0.3%. Maybe I'll use it up in a floor cleaning product or something.

So I figure this was not a scent that you would HAVE to HAVE for your products?

Maybe try a small batch and see? You could try it in laundry soap or household cleaner too!
