Hi Folks, Im still tweeking my sugar scrub recipe. It contains sweet almond oil, coconut oil a little shea butter and sugar. I put in coconut and shea to make it less apt to seperate oil from sugar. what can I do to make it feel more creamy and less compact? Is that even possible in a scrub?

Maybe whipping it? That would make it less compact, but since it has sugar in it I don't think you could make it more creamy.

Edited to add: Have you tried making an emulsified scrub? That sounds more for what you're looking for.

Over time, oils, butters and sugar will separate. I agree; I would make an emulsified scrub. Don't forget your preservative as people will dip their damp fingers into it or water will get into the product.

btw, ladies. Do you know where i can find instructions on how to make emulsified scrub? Dying to try it!

I started with this recipe and have tweaked it to make it my own. It is a great starting point. I also add .5% (total weight) of phenonip cause I like to use my scrubs in the shower and don't want any nasties growing in there. HTH.
