Soooo, I made lotion bars yesterday using a new recipe. It came out really greasy feeling. I love the ingredients (shae butter, cooca butter, sweet almond oil, beeswax, and EO. I WISH I remembered that I was going to add more beeswax to make a harder bar. Now I feel like I've wasted a lot of expensive ingredients with a product that I am going to have to force myself to use (rather than throw away). Sorry, I guess I'm just venting haha.

Gently remelt it and add some corn starch.

I found that the beeswax added to the greasy feeling of my lotion bars because it doesn't absorb.

OK, so as a beekeeper, I'll disagree with Coolah. I love beeswax. It seems to make my skin feel softer. I use about 1/3 beeswax in my bars, and they are my best seller. I've never used corn starch, and no one seems to miss it.

Your milage may vary, of course, but if if your bars are too soft, melt them, and add a bit more beeswax.

Mine is super greasy, I can't even use it. It's from the BB lotion bar kit. No idea what makes it greasy... but at least my FIL loves it! He puts it on his dry skin patches and within a day or two they are all healed and soft!

I just got a sudden vision of a giant bee and a kangaroo in a boxing ring thingy. Round 1! LOL

I didn't realize I could remelt them and add more beeswax! That's great news :) Thanks-I will be doing that tomorrow.

I made mine with beeswax and at first I wasnt sure that I like it because it seemed to glue my arm hairs , but about 30 seconds afterwards it has soaked in nice.

I am going to try some of the other waxes just to avoid that sticky kind of feeling you get at first.

I use beeswax and it soaks in pretty quickly. I want to try candelila but haven't ordered any yet.

I'm all for the beeswax. Maybe changing the oils would effect the greasiness some people feel with these. I've only made them with beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil, so don't have much experience to go on :).

I've made lotion bars with beeswax, shea, and another oil (can't remember off the top of my head). I've also made them with beeswax, shea and cocoa, and another oil. The ones with cocoa butter were greasy, the ones without, not as greasy. The beeswax does sit on the skin but only for a few minutes. Then they soak in nicely. Could it be the butters or oils you are using in your recipe?

I'll have to agree with the comment about cocoa butter. Just does not absorb at all. Coconut oil, the same problem.
