Hi folks, Im looking to make some scrubs for the holiday shows. I've got my recipes picked out but Id like to add some stuff like, oats, citrus peel and ground herbs and. Does anyone know if they will behave in sugar scrubs? since there is no water in the product. Yes Im going to have to use a preservative, Any advice would be appreciated .

Citrus peel is ok. I don't know about the oats. Herbs will oxidize and turn brown.

Herbs will turn brown without lye as in soapmaking? does that mean calendula is fine?

Oats are cool, but they make the scrub smell like oats. I'm pretty heavy handed with my fragrance, and there is an unmistakeably oaty smell.

Sorry, Pam, I totally lost track of this thread! I get great suds from it. One of my testers already came back for more. I gave some of the cream soap to a woman who works with my husband. She and her husband both like it, in fact he took most of it for shaving soap. :lol:
