Hello everybody!

I am very new in soaping but like very much. I've seen lot soapqueen video about soapmaking and this eo/fo confused me?!

Really what is the difference between them? One is more concentrated than the other?

In my country I do not know so far the "issue" of essential oil, we only know 100% pure fragrance oil and it is very costly here, 10ml (0,33 oz) for 2$ Anne-Marie uses in her video essential oil more times in 2 oz quantity....

EO or Essential oils come from plants, flowers, trees, roots or grasses.
FO or Fragrance oils are lab made.

Most of us buy these in bulk online as they are cheaper. If you buy an essential oil or a fragrance oil from a retail store then you are paying much more.

One more question, if the essential oils are not labmade, can you produce EO-s at home?
Do you need any preservatives in such oils?
And if you use Fo or Eo what is the "best before date" of your soap?

Essential oils require a precise type of distillation, so no, couldn't really make them at home.
You don't need a preservative for an EO.
The "best before" date of your soaps is more dependant on the shelf life of the oils you use rather than the EO or FO.

Essential oils have a different expiration date. Citrus oils, for example, are good for about six months. Patchouli lasts for years and gets better with age. As far as fragrance oils, since the actual ingredients are propriatery, it's hard to know. Best to ask the vendor or manufacturer. It is difficult to produce essential oils at home, as you would need a LOT of the plant material, which will yield a very small amount of essential oil. There is no need for a preservative, unless you are making a true hydrosol.
