So I finally took the plunge!! I made a conditioning 2 in 1 shampoo (a Swifty recipe) and a lavender lotion (BB lotion from scratch kit). Observations:
1) shampoo can easily be thickened with PEG 150 distearate when you are missing the crothix the recipe calls for. Just don't use too much or you get a jelly. Oops? I looked up how to do it on several forums and blogs, but I guess my FO was one that thickens too. It still works great though! Its just a little, well, like slime.
2) if you want a full 16oz bottle make more than exactly 16oz of shampoo. The bottle in the picture is a 16oz size and I calculated the recipe to make 16oz. Hrm.
3) lotion is SO easy to make! If people knew this, lotion companies would be out of business super fast! Mine absorbs right in and leaves a nice light scent. I love it! (yes one bottle is only partially full, the rest of that bottle was spilled on my counter because I suck at pouring and forgot to buy a funnel)
4) both of these are extremely easy to clean up after!
A picture of my shampoo "Black Magic" (black amber scented) and my lavendar lotion. With my "countryside peacock blue" labcolour. Think the picture will be enough to convince BB that they mislabeled it? LOL It is ever more purple in reality, the flash against the frosted bottle takes away from it. It is
THIS colour.
