well kind of free.

I would love to hear what others are using for molds. I recently made some soap using the plastic crystal light containers.. (the ones that hold the packets). I loved the shape sliced them up and they will be perfect for small guest soaps.

I have tried pop bottle bottoms (didnt care for those)

I've used the harder plastic bakery trays and made lemon bars in those (m &p)

Everything I look at these days I'm trying to visualize how they would be for soap!

The molds that I regularly use are .50 a piece - $1 a piece. They're drawer organizers from the dollar tree. They work wonderfully.

I've been on the lookout for the drawer organziers but haven't seen them. I did find ice cube trays in the shapes of stars and tiki masks at the dollar tree.

Here's the ones I got
http://www.dollartree.com/teachers-supp ... hod=search
I use the middle size ones for 2 lb batches & the large ones for 3 lb batches.

They have them at one dollar tree in our town, but not at the other. Weird.

I have a dryer sheet container that I use once in awhile. Mostly love my silicone. Just used a silicone icecube tray that gives me almost circles... will imbed those. I could not find the star trays at my dollar tree, they had the tiki heads but I did not want those. We are getting a new dollar tree that will be 5 minutes from my house...dangerous!!!!!!!

Little Ceasar's dog food container. Comes out very pretty.
How big do you make your bars?

I picked up a tiki mask ice cube tray for under a dollar at target today, got a slight discount due to computer issues that had us waiting around for 45 minutes!

The dollar tree near us didn't have the organizers, but I got some bamboo ones from Bed Bath and Beyond for under $5. I got the 3 X 6 X 9 ones, they hold 1 pound each.

You can use a milk carton. Tear it off when the soap is ready to unmold.

I was thinking abt the Crystal light containers myself but was wondering how I would get the soap out! Do you cut the ends off first? Will the soap push out? Thanks for all the great ideas!!

Pringles cans are cool single use molds. PVC molds are pretty cheap and reusable. Thanks to Soapbuddy, I tried milk cartons and those worked well too. There are some small cardboard cans of mixed nuts I wanted to try but the metal end caps don't look coated. The silicone ice cube trays, etc work great just aren't free. This forum gives so many great ideas!

Oooh, I'm gonna have to check Walmart again. Last time I looked they only had the star ice cubes, and I already have that one. I'd love to get some lemon/lime wedge shaped ones and the grape ones sound cute too!

I mostly use drawer organizers that I got from walmart, they're the MainStays brand, and I really like them because the sides aren't slanted at all. I think they were around $3 apiece, less for the smaller sizes.

The crystal light molds... I didnt have to cut the end off. I left them in the containers for a couple of days and them I pushed and pulled on the sides.. pushed on the bottom.. and left them upside down, came back about an hour later.. one had dropped down so I just held it and it slid out .. the other one I tapped on a bench(well kinda tapped hard maybe a whack) and it slid out..
