Teach Soap

Hi All
Since there is so many wonderfully smart people here on this forum I decided to throw out this question and see if I can find some help. So here goes. I want to build myself a mold that makes a soap 2 1/2" wide and 3 1/2" tall. But now I want to figure out how long to make the sides to make a 2 lb loaf. Any suggestions??

My 2# loaf is 8 inches long. 2.5 x 3.5 x 8 x .4 = 28 oz.
A 9" long mold will be 31.5 oz 2.5 x 3.5 x 9 x .4 = 31.5 oz

I was thinking along those lines. My silicone mold I use now for a 24 oz recipe is the same as yours. 2.5 x 3.5 x 8. So the volume should stay the same?? I am just turning the existing mold on its side right??

Do you put 28 oz in SoapCalc as your recipe weight?? I use 24 and it seems to fill it. Should I be using more??

I use 32 oz of oils and pour the extra into an individual mold because I sell my soap and like to have an extra one to keep for myself.

If what you are doing now fills the mold, I wouldn't change it unless you want a little extra to make sculptured tops on your soap.
