Teach Soap

Ok, I am trying to figure out these lab colors I got today. I got the book that you can get also. I am confused about diluting the colors. Do I need to dilute them? How do I dilute 20ml and 10ml bottles, What can I put them in afterward, and do they need to be in the refrigerator like is says in the book.

I had the same problem when I got mine. I did a considerable amount of research online. The best I could come up with is that you mix the 10ml bottle with 8 oz of 140 degree water. You use about an oz. of color per pound of soap.

Oh and what do you put the diluted colors into for storage. I doubt they will fit back into the original container.

That's right, the 10ml with 8oz and the 20ml with 16oz. You can use plastic lotion bottles. I have only made up a few of mine so far and used small canning jars, after an accident funneling water into a plastic bottle, heh. (Uncolored, thank goodness!)

The booklet says store in the freezer or fridge if you aren't using a preservative, I believe.

I don't dilute till I get ready to use them, and then it's just a small amount--how ever much I need. Any leftover diluted colorant is put into sterile jars and go in the fridge. I have used the labs undiluted, using a dropper ( use caution--this stuff is strong colorant) to get a bold color.

I have been picking my brain on where to get bottles big enough for the 20ml bottles, then my mom gave me an idea. My family owns a pharmacy and I can use the liquid bottles from work, the bigest size is 160z. Awesome idea. I love my mom.

For storage, I use the olive oil/vinegar bottles with the pour spouts. It works out really well.
