Teach Soap

I'm experimenting with this solely for my family.....not trying to sell it .
I've seen some recipes where you an grate up a bar of soap, cover with water, add a bit of glycerin, and melt the concoction. Then pour into containers to have a liquid hand soap. I tried it last night and which I'm getting decent bubbles (for hand soap, that is) it is way too thin.
Is this thinness just the nature of liquid soap made this way? Is there a simple way to make it a bit thicker, or do I need to try the "from scratch" method to get a decent liquid soap?

There is no good way to make liquid soap from a soap bar. If you get it thicker, it will be like snot.

I did do it this way, but of course just for home use in the bathroom to wash hands and Irena is right, to thick and it's like snot and the lather isn't as big. To thin is good lather, but to watery. But hey....it works for what I need it to.

I did this once and the liquid soap was pretty thin at first but thickened up overnight - and as stated above - it ended up like snot. Did not care for it at all & ended up using the batch as laundry soap to get rid of it.

I've seen this recipe on Pinterest and wondered about it! Good to know how it works, or doesn't work as the case may be.
