My mother wants some calendula cream but is allergic to beeswax so I would like to make a cream myself but from a base, I am not ready for anything from scratch just yet!! Anyway, do I just add calendula extract to the cream base, or do I add something else? She usually uses the "California Baby" calendula cream but she goes through it so fast. Thanks!!

Depending what is actually in the cream base, you can add a small mount of infused calendula (coconut, jojoba or olive) oil.

Calendula extract is available in polar form. I buy it by the litre from a UNIDO-certified bioextract company here in Mexico, they have about 400 different extracts available. I use quite a lot of their 10x aloe vera concentrate. Calendula is one of the extracts in our 'Rescue' cream which fixes sunburn, cuts and scrapes, and bruises as if by magic.

That exact thought occurred to me when I read this post...

We can say pretty much anything we like, actually.
If I could post pictures directly here, (can't be bothered with external links) I'd post before/after pictures. I just had a line into the back of my hand a few days ago and a huge purple bruise came up, but I fixed it within 24 hours. Studies of aloe vera cream on the Net show it is more efficacious at treating burns than the standard silver cream, and with no side effects. We fixed the old cat's scabby bald ears too, (the vet tried and failed).

wow...so are you saying that Mexico as no agency such as the FDA or Health Canada that oversees and regulates medicinal type claims on cosmetic products?

Well, it depends how much money you have. The big companies - I could mention names but better not - pay large bribes to agencies such as the D____ologist's Association to "approve" their creams.
The health department is responsible for product safety. What this means is that someone who supposedly is a chemist takes a look at the product and its ingredients list and approves it for sale, or not. We have to comply with extensive rules that cover the permitted ingredients. However some small operators don't even bother. I heard of a doctor (of what, I know not) who was buying a self-emulsifying base and going from one client to another blending in a bit of this or a bit of that and claiming all sorts of benefits.
Nowadays American consumers can buy pretty much anything they like online . . . you can order creams from Hong Kong or Calcutta if you want... the FDA can't regulate that. The FDA does help the big companies shut out competition through ridiculous approvals costs.
