I am a total newbie to soap making, so please excuse my dumb questions!

I made some shea butter soap last weekend, using LCP white base, and adding shea butter, glycerine, and castor oil. I was wondering if I were to use a shea butter base instead of the white, would I still be able to add additional shea butter, or would that be too much shea butter to make a good bar of soap?

MP base already has a lot of glycerin, so unless you are making a pliable soap, it really doesn't need extra. You can add shea butter and castor oil, but not at large amounts, other wise you will start to loose lather. MP bases are best used as is. Just add scent and/or color. Castor adds bubbles to cold process soap, but since MP base is already saponified, it won't work the same way.
