Teach Soap

I made a batch yesterday and I've used this recipe a few other times with no problems. However, I usually soap higher, around 120-130. Yesterday I tried the room temp method. This morning when I checked it, it had a little bit of brown liquid in tiny little pin prick spots in a couple places. It's not pooling, but I could see it on top. Feeling it, it felt oily. I unmolded and pulled the paper down to check. I have cut a few pieces but haven't seen any "pockets". However, when I tested the liquid on top, it did zap. I used a stick blender to a very light trace and then when I mixed in my colors, I used the stick blender again. Do I have to totally scrap it and do a rebatch? If so, I'm super bummed because it is by far the best looking soap that I've made.

I would rebatch at this point. The problem with soaping cool is that some of the oils can start to solidify, you get a false trace and not all of the lye will get incorporated.

I would soap right around 110. That should help with the solidifying issue.

I cut it all and could see some of the brown liquid in a couple of the bars. ::Sigh::

But, I would like to take away the positive from an otherwise negative experience, I did learn how to rebatch, and also that black and blue mixed together make the perfect color for cement

I tested this soap last night and it was fine. Lathered nicely and no zap Sadly, it looks a little weird, but it maintained the fragrance and feels nice on the skin.

Good thing it was a test batch. I'll have to tell my testers to just give their input on the fragrance and the, um, style of the rebatch, and ask them to ignore the color. Unless they think that grey is the new black

Here's my idea: Make some white or black soap paint and paint a hop scotch drawing (like we used to make on the sidewalks) on each of the soaps and then call it "childs play" ???
