I'm planning to make a batch of lemon meringue soap tomorrow and I was wondering how to make a super bright yellow with the pigments I have, if it is even possible. I have yellow oxide and TD. I'm also trying to do a white "meringue" on the top of the batch. Wondering if a batch that is lard heavy would work? Thinking 55% lard, 15% olive oil, 20% coconut, 5% castor and 5% sweet almond. Normally I do even parts lard and olive, but the olive I have is extra virgin and is a super dark yellow. Wanting this batch to be quite a bit less yellow so that the white is as white as possible without needing 5 pounds of TD hehe Thanks folks!

Super bright yellow is best done with FD&C colors or neons like the ones that BrambleBerry sells. As far as making the soap white, If your olive is a deep yellow and you use TD, the soap will end up a very light yellow. If you use too much TD, it will make the soap chalky and possibly crumbly. Unrefined palm is bright yellow but that will fade over time.

Would the recipe I listed actually work?

Yep! Soapmaker3 actually. Just wanted to ask the professionals hehe, didn't want to make a soap that would, say, dry my niece out like a piece of leather! Here is the graph from SM3, it LOOKS like it should be good, but I've learned to take this with a grain of salt, since it says castille won't be so good, and it is!

Looks good to me! I've made a 100% lard soap with 8% SF and it's very nice, even tho there's no lather - kind of like castille, but not as slimy. 8)
ETA - and it's pure white.

Well, I mixed this up tonight. Not sure how it will turn out... I spilled a little too much TD-glycerin mix into my oils :( It took FOREVER to trace, about 35-40 minutes. Way longer than my castille!! Its on the radiator cooking now, we'll see how it turns out. If its a tosser I may have to get some lemon EO and try that, though I think t fades. It is a birthday present for my niece, along with some bath bomb cupcakes. Here's to hoping it turns out alright!

Edit: I used "English Lemon Delight" FO in it, 1 oz in my crafter's choice mold. Not sure about overheat, but I doubt it since it was ice cold by the time it finally hit trace. Thinking I will still check it every 15 or 30 mins.
