I've been searching everywhere to find a recipe for bath jelly that doesn't need refrigeration. Is it possible?

The problem I see with using knox gelatin or any thing like it is that you have to keep it refrigerated or they melt. I was at the grocery store and saw some "jello" type cups that u don't have to refrigerate, So I did some research on Vegan "gelatin". I came up with a substance used in asain cooking called agar agar. It's a sea weed powder or flake that makes a "gelatin" when added to liquid. It cools at room temp and no fridge needed. So that is the theory, while I have not tried this out it's could be worth expeirmenting with. You can find this stuff at and asian market. I can't wait to try it out. Let us all know how it goes..

My bath jelly does not need refrigeration, but it has to have a preservative. Yes, it's possible, but I will not share my recipe, since I sell it.

I haven't tried the recipe yet. I am just a hobbyist so I usually use the ingredients listed in a recipe when I make it the first time or two, to see how it behaves. I checked that out on the internet and found this.

What I got from this article is that Sodium cocosulfate or Alpha Olefin Sulfonate can be substituted, but Sodium cocosulfate needs an additional surfacant to achieve the same results. I could have misunderstood the contents of the article. If so, then someone please reply with the answer.

How about using Xanthan gum? Or a cross polymer such as Ultrez-20?

Yeah, what Irena said.

Xanthan or guar might work. I've only used them as thickeners and I'm not sure if you would need any preservatives with those.

I wasn't writing to say do this and u will have no problems...I also stated that I my self have not had a chance to try this out. My thinking could have been backwards but, I would think get my consistency right then look at preservatives. Would this product even work ? There is a long ways to go I think before I would worry about preservatives. Just by the water content in this product I would assume it would need something ...
