I just ordered one of these from Etsy, does anyone else have one like it? The store's ratings aren't too bad, and most of the comments are great. This is my first Etsy purchase and I'm a little timid... but it's exactly what I need and want!

I'm not familiar with this guy, but I have a similar one except mine doesn't have the partial grooves in the wood.

Is it hard to plane cured or partially cured soap? Or bevel it for that matter? Kind of hoping to de-ash my Spots! batch, it has such a heavy ash layer that it feels and looks flocked!

I've beveled fully cured soap. Just be very careful that you don't slice your skin along with it.

I have a glove that is made of stainless steel thread, its meant for use with a mandolin hehe, I think it should work perfectly for soap!

These are the exact ones I use only difference is mine are size large! They are from a kitchen supply store. Stainless steel thread covered in silicone, feels like its a cloth glove! We also have kevlar ones! [] They are fantastic, you can slam your hand into the mandolin blade by mistake and nothing happens! I got mom hooked on them after seeing them on Iron Chef!

I got this in the mail today, and its really nice. BUT the bevelling indentations are on the wrong side of the platform and are therefor unusable :( I sent the maker a message, hoping he will replace it. This is my first Etsy purchase and I was wondering what I do if he won't replace it? Go through paypal for a refund? HOPEFULLY he will replace it! It is a really nice little tool, but not worth $45 if only the planing blade works.

Dad wants to make me a slightly larger version of this planer/beveler (like the one Irena has!) but we are unsure where to pick up a 6" or 8" blade! Any ideas?

I talked to Toughtimbers and he is going to replace the device! He accidentally sent me one he didn't mean to ship out. He is sending me the new one tomorrow along with a "little gift" as an apology. Great man to deal with if you need anything from his Etsy! I plan to buy one of his potty chairs in the future when I have kids who are not furry.

My new one arrived today, and it is perfect  He threw in a couple nice wooden soap dishes as a "oops" gift since he felt bad for accidentally sending me a faulty one. I will definitely be looking to buy one of his potty chairs at some point in the future.... after we're married and all settled in together. I hereby recommend Tough Timbers Etsy!
