Hi - wondering if some of the other preservatives also have a smell like Phenonip? Germaben, Optiphen? I really cannot stand the smell of the phenonip in my lotion. My sister has been using the lotion i made and says she loves it and can only smell the lavender...but all I smell is the preservative.

Yes, it does have a smell if you have a sensitive nose. Optiphen has a better smell, but it makes my formula curdle. I no longer use it. Try it and see.

I use this preservative, Liquid Germall Plus. It doesn't seem to have a odor, but I did over fragrance my 1st lotion. The fragrance bloomed as the lotion aged 2 weeks!

I use Phenonip and there is a smell but it doesn't bother me. I only really notice it in unscented lotion. I may have to try the Liquid Germall Plus, but I like Phenonip because I don't have to worry so much about the temp of my lotions since it's not as sensitive to higher temps.
