Hey there...I have extremely dry skin on my face and body, and using moisturizer after washing my face doesn't give me enough moisture. Dermatologists have recommended I use a facial serum before my moisturizer, but all the serums seem to be so expensive! Since I make my own soap and bath goodies, I figured I might as well use a homemade serum! I've done a little research and have learned that aloe vera and/or coconut oil are really good to use as serums because they are easily absorbed into the skin, as opposed to just laying on top of it. The coconut oil recommended is extra virgin, unrefined, 100% pure, expeller pressed. But there seems to be conflicting information about whether it clogs pores or not. My skin is really dry, but that doesn't mean I want to clog it up and break out! Does anyone have any info or insight into this? Thanks!

I would try plain jojoba. It adds moisture & doesn't clog the pores. Jojoba is technically a plant wax and it's compatible with the structure of the skin.

Check out the qualities of Rosehip seed oil,you can buy it at almost any soap supplies seller,it is the absolute best. :D From this one oil you get many benifits and you could easily tailor a serum on your own by adding some vit e or some of brambleberrys calendula or chamomile extract. i have formulated a great serum with several different oils and botanicals in it but rosehip is always at the top of the list.
