Well thinking about my summer feet ( barefoot or flip flops all summer) and wondering if any of you have tried the shredded loofa.

Does it need to be moistened before you put it into your soap batter? How much ppo would one use?

It would be nice for gardeners soap also I think.

I've used it often in my MP soaps, but not yet in my CP. Mine is a very shredded bag, so never pre-moistened, I just mixed it in with the melted soap and poured straight away. Didn't notice any issues.

I found it too scratchy on the soft parts of my skin (chest and arms mostly), using it on my back and thighs I felt like a cat being scratched in all the right places and nearly fell over in the shower lol. Wasn't that impressed on my feet though. That said, I wear 'flip flops' all year round pretty much, so my feet are as dry and hard as they come.

I've used another local soapers foot bar that is a peppermint CP soap with pumice in it. When I remember to use it often, I get good results (memory being my problem). It's just a CP soap, but it has HEAPS of Pumice in it, and you use it like you would a normal pumice stone. The peppermint and the soap bar factor help moisturize while the pumice helps soften. I'm going to be attempting to duplicate and make my own version soon (hopefully).

I've used it in MP for years, never pre-moistened. The book I have says 1 TBSP per pound of oils in CP, but I have yet to try this.

Thank you coolah and feisty! 1 TBS sounds like a lot. I think I will start smaller and I can always add more later!

We grew some loofa a couple of summers ago and then after it dried I shredded it and added it to one of my soaps.... I went a little lighter than a tablespoon because I did not want the cratchy feeling. This bar works out well for a hand soap. I like my sugar cube scrubs for my heels better than the loofa soap. It is a fun crop to grow and if you lived down south would have an easier time than we did (our growing season is almost too short). I will someday try a pumice soap, lots of items on my to try list.

In my MP I always just eyeballed it. Depends on how 'scratchy' you want it. I have two customers that always request it in their soaps, one likes juuuuust enough to be noticeable. The other it's more a case of pouring a little bit of soap on a clump of loofa lol.

Mine is used for the kitchen and bathroom sinks. Gets a lot of goo off your hands! Even motor oil and workshop stuff!!!

I find them to scratchy for my skin. I wonder if I could use them to clean my shower walls?
