Teach Soap

Since the issue are there with Palm Oil, what would you substitute for it to get the contributing effects? I thought that palm kernel oil flakes could replace it, but I was wrong. Newbie mistake.

I use lard in place of palm oil.

If you don't mind animal fat, lard is an excellent sub for palm. Just be sure to run the recipe through a lye calulator if you make the change.

Could you use the palm kernel flakes too in a smaller percentage? I have a whole box of it.

I don't see why not. I know that there are soapers that use both the palm oil and the palm kernel flakes in their recipes.

I like beef tallow too.

Ditto on the lard. I do sub palm kernel oil for my coconut or babassu oil.
