Teach Soap

I hate when my computer glitches and deletes my whole post. REALLY. HATE. IT.

Okay, so again--

Made two batches of soap now with the same problem

Both recipes came from BB and were run through the lye calculator.

Put both batches into my 12 bar silicone mold, covered with plastic wrap and put in 170 degree oven that had just been shut off. They're gelling great BTW

First batch I unmolded while still a little warm @ 8 hrs or so...
Second batch was completely cool and had been resting for 16+ hrs.

I wanted a nice smooth surface, but I got tons of tiny bubbles that make it look rough and weird. What's going on??

It looks like it overheated. Did you use milk, EO or FO? Those could be the culprits. At what temp did you combine your oils and lye?

I used BB's Wasabi in the first one and the Rain Cybilla on this one. In both batches my lye and oils were around 120-130s... the lye was a little cooler on the second batch- 118 as I recall

I would soap cooler; around 110 and take the soap out of the oven as soon as it's in full gel. If you are using just insulation and the soap isn't in the oven, take off any insulation as soon as the soap is in full gel.

Sounds good to me! I think I'm just going to rebatch these two sets... I'll try the new temp on my next one

I LOVE that smell! I only has a sample of it from BB so I added a little bit of a Wake Up Rosemary sample I had and it smells A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I think my husband is still a little hesitant about the name, but I think he'll come around

I think you're unmolding too soon... that happened with my first batch that I used a silicone mold with... now I just wait for it to set for 24+ hours and I haven't had that happen to me again.
