Teach Soap

Hello guys, Good day to all. I just want to ask if anyone here had an experience using sodium silicate in making their soap harder. If there is any, can u share it to me the right proportion/percentage over total fats ..

I tried to use sodium silicate because some of my batches were not that hard, (the batch is a little bit soft) so i used sodium silicate thinking that this would help me in making my soap harder but in my first try, the soap is not that really hard.

Did you mean sodium lactate? I use that in every batch to make my soap harder.

soapbuddy, can plain salt be used to harden bars? If so, that could make things easier for jsphrico.

Start out by dissolving 1 tsp. of salt to each pound of soap.

@ Chemist: Yes I am. Im from Mindanao, Davao City in particular... thanks for sharing your ideas. I tried to post it here because I wonder why my batch is not hard inspite of the fact Im already added silicate in it. Just to ask if other here also using the same. What is in my mind was, maybe my silicate is not enough, maybe too little to make or add the hardness of the soap. Well in my next try, i will try salt together sodium silicate. Hope it would be fine.
