Teach Soap

I've gotten a request for a deodorizing/scent-removing soap, and I'm wondering what sorts of add-ins would be useful :3 (Strong) coffee substituted for plain water seems to be the thing I see mentioned most often; are there other things I should keep in mind? Activated charcoal was a thought, since it's used for that purpose in other applications, but I don't know if it'd work in soap the same way.

Coffee subbed as your water part seems to work the best. I haven't tried it with charcoal.

Coffee's probably the simplest, too, which is a good thing. Liquid coffee + coffee grounds will probably be my first shot at that, then :3

In looking around a bit on the interwebs, I've also seen a few pet odor/fishing odor soaps with star anise -- oh yeah! It just has such a strong smell on its own that one can forget it has the ability to deodorize. I also found a fishing soap with beads of "activated carbon"... a nicer way of saying charcoal, I suspect. Who wants to rub charcoal all over their hands?!

@Karri - anise does, although I don't know if that's specific to aniseed or star anise or both... I imagine there are others, though none are springing to mind, since I'm usually using them for the opposite effect!

Yeah anise is pretty strong. I made a fisherman's soap last week with it. I tired of that smell in my kitchen pretty fast But the kids love it!

If this soap is for a chef, I would leave the anise out. Anise is used mostly by hunters to disguise their smell. I use it for fishing to catch more fish.
