Yep, was aware of those soap/EO facts. Intriguing too!

Am getting ready to make your CO recipe (20% SF) right now. Can't help myself but try it! I read this one sets up super fast so I should probably be prepared to unmold and cut this tonight?

Also - does 100% CO soap require the full 4 weeks to cure? (Using 2:1 water/lye ratio).

Decided on anise and a touch of clove bud EO. Just waiting for my lye sol'n to cool down a bit and then I'm ready to rock!

Am going to add a little swirl of brown using rhassoul clay :)

Can't wait to see how this turns out but the simplicity of using one oil is kind of fun!

Hmm ... I think my oil was about 120 and my lye sol'n maybe a bit hotter. I'm usually pickier about the temps but for some reason this time I didn't connect the dots between soaping hotter and using the wee bit of clove. I bet you're right about this. Makes total sense now (she types while slapping forehead...).

@soapbuddy - I should probably cut this stuff tonight then? I'm so worried about it getting so hard I can't cut it and it's already just about cooled down really firm on top. Crossing fingers and toes it still works out ... I DETEST rebatching. LOL.

Jenova - it smells great but probably won't know the final outcome until I cut it and try some in water. The clove isn't really coming through yet though. And the anise smells exactly like Sambuca! (Oh the memories ...)

If it feels hard enough, I would cut it now.

Okay it's cut! And I'm glad I did!

It's oily to touch and because the top looked a little too rustic for my liking I trimmed it. No trimming elsewhere though. I'm thinking that oil will reabsorb into the soap. It's not lye heavy or anything as I can handle it with bare skin (I know ... not s'posed to do that but...).

Anyway, whatcha think?

Yes will definitely test in a couple days!

Do you think the oiliness is from the seizing/fast trace, or does this type of recipe sometimes do this anyway? Just curious what the benchmark is re texture and that kind of thing.
