I notice a lot of recipes calling for glycerin, and looking up what it is and what it does online I'm running across a bit of a contradiction. That current research is showing glycerin is not attracting moisture to the skin, but it's actually drawing moisture from the skin. Who's right? and if you don't add glycerin to products what can or would you substitute?

I use glycerin in bubble cakes, it seems to balance the slsa.

I also use a tiny bit in MP soap to mix with micas for coloring, but maybe a half teaspoon per pound.

instead of adding glycerin to my lotion, i use Hydrolized oats, but OMG is it expensive! is there something a little less costly that does the same thing as the oats?
