Ok - I made my first solid lotion bars yesterday and they turned out great... But how in the world do you clean up the utensils/pot afterwards??? The beeswax made it really dificult to clean up. :roll:

Any tips, secrets, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

If it was a big batch and it's oven safe, put it in the oven on low til it melts. Then wipe off with a paper towel and wash with hot soapy water. I heard that you can try a hair dryer, but I haven't tried that one.
Or immerse your utensils in a pot of hot water til the oil/butter mixture softens, then wipe down with paper towels. Then wash with hot soapy water.

Thanks, soapbuddy. It was a small batch (9oz) and I used a plastic measuring cup to mix everything - maybe a glass one would have been better since it wouldn't cool as quickly! :lol:

I use only stainless steel to mix my lotion bars in - set up in another pot of water as a double boiler. I pour directly from the SS pot, and then after pouring, return it to the hot water. Everything that started to cool and stick remelts - so I top off any bars that need it, then wipe it out, while still quite hot, with paper towel. It wipes out very cleanly - no residue. I dedicate that pot only to lotion bars, or whipped butters, so worry about food safety
