Hi - What can I sell my soaps in? I have my first show in June 11. Where and what kind of bags should I purchase. Are there small nice cello bags? Thank you.

Are you talking about for wrapping them in? Or for after they're wrapped?

Hi - Both please. Just not sure if i should wrap them in saran wrap or not once i make them. How long should I wait for the soaps to be completly hard? Also, do i need to shrink them too? Then looking for something really pretty to sell them in. Sorry for all the questions... Thank you.

There are a lot of different things and ways that mp soapers use for packaging. What works for some may not work for others, but here are few different ideas.
A lot use regular shrink wrap from the store.

There are shrink bags like these
http://www.soapies-supplies.com/shop/shrink-bags.html
or these
http://www.papermart.com/Product%20Page ... 19036#4937

Some people use regular cello bags to wrap the soap. Some people also first wrap their soap in shrink wrap and then put in cello bags. That papermart.com site has a lot of different types of cello bags. Or if you have a dollar store where you live, they also have inexpensive cello bags.

Some wrap in shrink wrap or shrink bags and then put in soap boxes, like these
http://www.soapies-supplies.com/shop/wh ... boxes.html
or
http://www.brambleberry.com/Soapbox-white-P3222.aspx

Then some package theirs in plastic clamshells, like these
http://www.scottcrewcandlesupply.com/st ... il&hdr=pkg

On how long to wait for your soap to be completely hard, it really matters on how big your mold is and what base you're using and a lot of times what else you're adding to it. So it could range from an hour to over 18 hours.
But if the soap is completely cool to the touch and the sides and bottom of the mold, then it should be okay. Just be careful when taking out, just in case the middle isn't completely set.

I prefer shrink wrap. Over time, cello bags get soap crumbs or the soap will smear the cello.

Hi, nancy! I assume you're talking about M&P soap exclusively? I wouldn't put unwrapped M&P soap directly in a cello bag, either - it will get the bag all smeared and gummy. I have used cello bags, but I shrink wrap the soap in plastic first before putting it in the bag.

I guess a lot of this is personal preference, but I usually wrap my M&P soaps in plastic wrap (like Glad wrap or cling wrap) and then use a heat gun to shrink wrap it. I liked this especially for craft shows because the plastic protects the soap and people can still smell the soap through the plastic. It also made set-up easier and tidier, too, because I could stack the soaps and people could clearly see what was on my table.

Also at craft shows, I used white paper lunch bags for customers' purchases. (I think the white looks nicer than the brown, and you can find paper lunch bags in a bunch of colors. I got my bags at Target and Wal-Mart.) You can stamp your paper bags or put a sticker on it with your logo and contact info, or whatever you want to dress them up.

Organza bags are also nice for packaging, but that can get expensive. Cello bags are more economical, and a bit of ribbon or raffia to tie off the bag really makes it pretty. You can buy cello bags in bulk online, but if you just need a few you can pick some up at someplace like AC Moore or Michael's in the baking/candy-making section for a reasonable price. Buying organza bags at a craft store would be pricey, so if you go with organza bags, I'd buy them in bulk at someplace online like Nashville Wraps to get a much better price.

When I make M&P soap, I let it sit overnight before unmolding, and I wrap mine in plastic right away after unmolding. It is important to wrap M&P to keep it from sweating and drying out.

Anne-Marie did a SoapQueen TV video about packaging here: http://www.youtube.com/user/soapqueentv ... D4bJgtaHMg

Hope that helps! Good luck at your show! :D

Good Morning,

Thank you everyone for all your wonderful suggestions. You guys are great and with me being such a newbe I feel confident that I will do well, thanks to all of you!

As far as me shrinkwrapping, I read that I need to purchase a heat gun. I'm not sure where to do this. Any suggestions?

Are there any specifice size labels you all use when listing all ingredients?

Thank you.

Hi again - Yes I'm only using Melt and Pour soap right now from Natures Garden. They seem like a good website. I want to purchase some all natural from BB but not sure which one to get. Thank you.
