Teach Soap

I love the stepping stone molds on BB. Can they be used for CP? Does anyone have experience with them? They would seem hard to unmold without some help.

I don't know. Maybe lightly brush it with mineral oil?

Well I think that would be a really large soap and there are darling bee molds specifically for soaps everywhere.

My husband loves larger bars of soap, but at 15-16 in diameter and 2 inches deep I think even he would be overwhelmed by a soap made in this. I can tell you that on the smaller Milky Way molds I used to have trouble unmolding them. Then I started putting Sodium Lactate in my soap at 1 1/2 tsp/ppo. Then I would refrigerate them for several hours before unmolding and they pop right out. I like using the Milky Way molds for small test batches.

If you use the stepping stone mold I'd love to see a picture of the finished soap. I bet it would be impressive!

Depending on the mold these will weigh anywhere from 20-30 lbs... once you cut them into usable bars I don't think the design will be discernible anymore.

I did a search on the BB site for 'bee' and there are some other molds that I think would work much better. =)

I agree, it's very large. I was considering having the large mold to cut from it in front of customers. I like how the infamous store not worth mentioning has their product in the stores.

Itspennylane, I was thinking about what you are wanting to do with this mold and had some thoughts on it. I mentioned that I use some of the Milky Way molds for small batches. They make some tray molds that might serve your purpose. I looked up and saw that they have a Brocade mold, a Gothic floral, and a Grape Vine. Each of these would give you 9 4 oz. bars that you could cut in front of people. Because they are scored, they are easy to cut with a trowel. They also have one with honeybees that gives you 16 guest size bars. Again, it is scored and would be easy to cut. HTH

We have loaf molds at BB. You can cut these in front of them and still have a manageable soap to have to lug around. =)
