I have made several batches of cp soap. My scales are fairly new. I measure in grams and I use the lye calculator..My question is...Should my soaps "zap" within 24 hours?..I have never had a "zap", even the same day or next day of making the soap!..Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Maybe not enough lye?

Welcome!
If your soap gels, then there should be no zap. If your soap zaps, that's a bad thing. You don't want that.

I don't test for zap anymore on my tried and true recipes that I am sure I have calculated correctly only new ones and so far I haven't gotten zapped.

OK..Thanks for the fast answers. I guess I did it right!..lol...Another question......Does not gelling retain the essential oil aromas better than gelling? I use essential oils only, and 28 grams per pound seems like a lot..especially for the expensive ones!
