Teach Soap

I was on amazon.com looking for a new digital scale and decided to browse the soapmaking books. I came across this one and was wondering if anyone here had used it.

Robert McDaniel is a well known author in the soapmaking community. As far as if the book is any good, I don't know. I like the Everything Soapmaking book by Alicia Grosso.

I have that book. It has a chapter on hot process, rebatching, and a chapter on bison soap in addition to the cold process info. I like the recipes in it, some are simple, some complex. The pictures are nicer than I've seen in any other soapmaking book, (which I like). What's nice for visual-learning newbie's is the DVD in the back with Dr McDaniel showing how to make CP soap.

ljm 1180, I have that one, too, and it's one of my favorites. Quite a bit on botanicals. He even touches on the history and making of the real African Black Soap and its complexities. A lot of recipes to try and good common sense.
