I'm making my first facial moisturizer. I'm thinking of using the basic Teach Soap percentages, possibly increasing the water content slightly to thin the lotion. I'm planning to use a blend of grapeseed and jojoba oils, with carrot seed oil and helischryum essential oils. I may add a little shea butter. I have normal skin, so I don't need to compensate for either dry or oily skin. I'm using phenonip as a preservative. Am I on the right track? Are there oils I should choose in conjunction with or in place of what I've already chosen?

Sounds ok to me. Whichever way you decide to do this, make sure that the whole formula equals to 100%. If you're not sure how it will come out, convert the formula to grams and make a small batch. Be aware that carrot seed oil can stain in larger amounts.

Any particular reason? If it's a sterilization issue, I use purchased distilled water, and not tap. I do warm up the water a bit before I emulsify so the oils don't freak and sieze, but not so much the preservative is useless.
