Teach Soap

i have been having problems with putting hemp oil in my batches. i use it sometime when the soap will trace to fast to thin it a little bit so i can pour more easier. i do not use it all the time but lately and with goat milk soap i see that it does not saponify and will ooze out of the bars after they gel and come out of the mold. i just pour a glop in at trace and stir real good so it is not from mixing. it just seems like when i tried vitamin e oil when it came oozing out of the finished bars. what is up with that? i just need an oil to put in to thin it down a little before i pour. thanks. Lye will kill the Vit E. It's not needed. Add everything right up front and calculate all your oils and butter all together. Adding an oil or butter at trace is not needed since the lye is still quite active and it will take whatever it wants. There is no guarantee that the oil/butter you add at trace will end up as your superfat unless it's HP and you add the oil/butter after the cook.

i know all that soapbuddy. but why isn't the hemp oil samponifying? i quit using vitamin e oil becuase of the same problems and now hemp oil is doing the same thing.

How many times have I told you to measure everything and stop doing last second "glops" into your batch. Exactly how much is a "glop"? Mine does that also sometimes. Call me.

Try changing your recipe a bit with slower tracing oils or soap at a lower temp and use a whisk. That should slow down trace for you.

thank you but i got it figured out. using a stick blender to mix the hemp oil fixed the problem and mixed it better so it does not seep. thank you for the vitamin e tip. that was just a wast of money.
