Teach Soap

My sister-in-law has requested that I create a lemon-scented kitchen soap. I was thinking of putting it in a different mold than my other soaps. Has anyone seen a soap mold that either says 'Kitchen' on it, or one that is in the shape of something kitchen-related? I googled it real quick but nothing came up right away - I'll probably need to continue surfing the internet later to look for something, but right now I have more soap to make

Have you thought of using a soap stamp along with your regular molds? You can buy all kinds of designs. You have to stamp the soaps while they are fairly soft. Bramble Berry has some really nice designs.

I've never seen a mold that says "kitchen". I would use one of the Milky Way stamps so it looks different.

That's a good idea. I could still use my wooden loaf mold that way. Maybe I could cut the kitchen soaps in a different shape too.

Speaking of molds, I only have a 1 lb completely collapsable wooden loaf mold right now, as well as a couple of Milky Way molds. I'm already finding out that I really need a 2lb loaf mold. I got my first mold here and it works great, but I'd like to spend a little less on my next one if possible.

Do silicone loaf molds produce good results? I'm sure they must be cheaper.

I was thinking more along the lines of this kind of thing:



Not sure if they come in 2lb size but, for the price, I could get two 1lb molds. I'd probably wait for the glossy, smooth-sided ones to come out.

There were some reviews on this mold at another forum and some people said that those molds bowed. But YMMV.

I have this mold for about a year and love It!, I have never had trouble with it bowing. The sides are well supported. I thought about getting a second one but went with a wood slab mold instead. Its good to have choices. Hope this helps.
