Teach Soap

I'm brand new to the forum and VERY brand new to soap making. I haven't made any at all yet, but have wanted to try it for a long time. I stumbled across this website and forum when I googled "making soap" and seems like a very friendly and informative place to start! My plans are to learn enough basic info about the process to be able to make soap for my church's fair in late June of 2011. Then I'll be able to continue making soap to include with my own other craft items (papercrafts, many assorted digital created ones) for the regular craft shows I do in the Fall.

Hi Ruth! I am also very new to soapmaking - just did my first batch yesterday and am thrilled with the way it turned out. I've been reading about soapmaking for about 2 years now and FINALLY decided I was comfortable enough to try it. I was really concerned about using lye, but after watching Anne Marie's video on this site on how to use the lye, I realized that it if I took the proper safety precautions I would be ok, and I was!
