I showed some pictures of my soap to a co worker & she said that most people who like handmade soap are very au natural & would be turned off by my bold colors thinking they were somthing bad.
They are TKB pop Micas....... Micas are natural right?

Micas are not natural. They are usually coated with FD&C colorants or other manufactured color, so if you are trying to appeal to a natural crowd, I would avoid them. BUT I don't agree with your co worker and if you like them, then I say use them and have fun!
There are definitely those granola type people who want a more natural product (myself included), but there is no reason why you have to cater to that crowd... there are plenty of people who love hand made soap because it is beautiful, artistic, and smells scrumtious and they couldn't care less if it is natural or not! I say do what you love and what inspires you.

BTW, even though I personally prefer natural soaps, I LOVE color. I just limit myself to natural colorants like alkenet, turmeric, rose hips etc. It is a more limited color palate but still colorful and I think that is part of the fun :)

Some people prefer the natural look but there are still alot of people that prefer unnatural colors and fragrances. Do what you like!

IMO most of the time soap is chosen for the scent and then the color. I did make a non-fragranced and no coloring soap from mostly olive oil for my grandson and other children out there that have sensitive skin. You could add one of these to your line of soaps.

For every opinion there is a differing one. Do what you like and throw in a naked bar if you want. You'll find the balance that suits you best, after all you are the soaper! Have a grand time!

I find when people look at my soaps and decide which ones they want, it's always the pretty colored, scented ones. I make some olive oil bars with no scent or color and the only people interested in those are the ones that have extremely sensitive skin/allergies.

I've decided to make what I love. What I love...lard soap!!! Lathers beautifully, soaps fabulously, and is so moisturizing.

At a market on Friday night I sold every piece of brightly coloured, heavily scented soaps, and hardly any of the naturals.

Go figure!

See, I tend to lean away from the looks like bubble gum color myself, and soaps that look like muffins, though cute, not my thing. I like the all natural soaps, hand cut more then molds. But that is me, I do know alot of people who like it that way, but know other people who enjoy the color and such. So go with what you want to go with. I like natural as you can get, so I go maybe boring color, but I am happy with the soap! I just did my first two tone soap though, so excited!

I also love lard in my soap! Usually I will use it at 30% in my recipe, sometimes alittle more than that. Every now and then I will leave it out and use palm oil as I have a friend that is vegatarian. Everyone has their preference and I would not want someone to compromise just for me.
