You can try natural liquid soap, oils and sugar. For exact proportions, you will need to experiment.

I found out the hard way that adding way to much shea butter and ewax to a sugar scrub makes it quite hard. Hard enough to put into molds and pack tightly and they pop out just fine and then when you use them, and squeeze them, they are soft and very nice. But these are brown sugar which has that hard/soft tendancy anyway. I haven't tried it with white sugar and I don't sell them, keep them all to myself until I get the consistancy down that I want. Hope this helps.

Hi, I cannot pull up the link, but this is the recipe I tried for beginning with sugar scrubs, which ended up solid sugar cubes when I used to much shes butter and e-wax.

This recipe is from Haven, that she so kindly shared a while back. This is not a solid sugar scrub for cubes, but a very nice recipe that you can modify later with more shea butter or other hard butter and e-way. I think I ended up about double her amounts for the shea and ewax, but I don't have my notes with me. I didn't have to use M&P to get the cubes.

Try it with white sugar and let us know if you get it to work and I suggest converting it all to grams to be more accurate and if you find a recipe you like, have fun and good luck.

For 10 oz

4 oz Shea Butter
4 oz Brown Sugar
3 g E-Wax
1 oz Exfoliant ( I use ground apricot seeds)
1 oz Jojoba oil
1.5 g fragrance ( I found that it doesn't take a lot of fragrance but you can add up to .5%)
1 g preservative

Melt shea butter, jojoba oil, and e-wax in double boiler over medium heat until shea is completely melted. Remove from heat and add sugar and exfoliant. Add fragrance and preservative. Transfer to a bowl and whisk. Place in fridge for 5-15 min intervals, whisking in between until desired consistency is reached. After about an hour, it was like whipped icing. Spoon into a container. It does harden a little bit but not too much.

So this weekend I tried soapqueen's solid sugar scrub recipe:
http://soap-queen.blogspot.com/2010/12/ ... scrub.html
Except I used goat's milk soap base and brown sugar. The problem is, I just don't seem to be able to pack as much brown sugar as soapqueen's recipe calls for (her recipe calls for regular white sugar). The scrub hardens way too fast. And after a couple hours I cut and tried it right the way in the shower. Then it all crumbled up in the shower, I didn't even feel the scrubbing at all, and no lather either. Anyone can shine a light at what I should do to make it right?
