Teach Soap

Hi Everyone!

First of all I just want to say how glad I am to have found this mb. I am just starting to learn how to make mp soaps and there is some much info here that my head is spinning...lol! You all seem so nice & helpful and it makes newbies like me feel welcome.

I am just starting to gather my supplies and ordering from BB. I am going to make a mp soap using a clear base, and white mica (which I think is ok to use in a mp soap). I wanted to give it a peppermint smell, but I cannot find a peppermint FO. Is there a FO that anyone can recommend that would come close?

Obviously I am still doing my homework.

Hi Jill,
Welcome! I use the peppermint EO quite a bit. Is there a reason you might not want to use that? BB has it in both the first and second distilled versions. Just a thought.

I haven't seen Peppermint FO either except one that's used in canndles only. Why not use essential oil?

So it is ok to use EO in mp soap? I thought I read somewhere that it is better to use FO instead. Do I just have to be careful and not use too much?

Good to know about the EO's. This is why I am doing my homework before finalizing any purchases.

So, what is the difference between first and second distilled versions of peppermint EO?

On BB's site there is a fragrance calculator, specific to the type of soap and the fragrance you are using. I checked this out before making my peppermint and I love the scent!
